Debra van Hulsteyn has painted for more than 40 years. She has a BA and MA from Sacramento State and an MFA from Trans Art Institute in Austria. She has focused on plein air (painted from direct observation outside), primarily oil on canvas or panel, since 2015. Shown: “Causeway,” oil on panel, 16 inches by 20 inches, painted plein air at the Yolo Causeway in 2024 with a view of the elevated train trestle off Road 32A between West Sacramento and Davis.
