WordPress Developer, Digital Advertising Platform
Inside Sacramento | Sacramento, CA (remote-friendly, occasional in-office coordination)
Status: Part-time | Compensation: [pending, hourly rate to be confirmed] | Hours: [pending, confirm weekly hours target]
ABOUT THE ROLE
You’ll build and maintain the technical backbone of our digital advertising. That means keeping our WordPress site running clean, and building out the digital ad platform, placements, ad units, and the client subscription payment flow, so our advertisers get a modern digital product to go with our print product. You’ll coordinate closely with our digital and web lead on shared site infrastructure, our Traffic Manager on digital ad specs, our Revenue management team on platform priorities, and Editorial on content and site experience.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
– Maintain and develop our WordPress site. Handle plugin updates, security patches, page builds, and forms.
– Build and administer our digital advertising platform. Set up ad units, placements, and inventory on the site.
– Develop and maintain the client subscription payment portal, WooCommerce Subscriptions, Stripe, and sync to our accounting system.
– Coordinate with our digital and web lead on shared site infrastructure, so builds don’t conflict or duplicate effort.
– Coordinate with the Traffic Manager on digital ad specs, sizing, and placement requirements so digital and print ad production stay aligned.
– Coordinate with Revenue management on platform priorities and what advertisers actually need next.
– Coordinate with Editorial on how ad placements and site changes affect content and reader experience.
– Troubleshoot site issues as they come up. Keep uptime and load speed solid.
– Document builds and configurations so the platform doesn’t depend on memory to maintain.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
WordPress development experience, themes, plugins, and custom builds. Familiarity with WooCommerce and Stripe integration. Experience building or administering digital ad platforms or ad serving setups. Comfort working independently on a part-time schedule with clear deliverables. Clear written communication for coordinating across a small, distributed team.
SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
The site runs clean with no surprise downtime. The digital ad platform is live, documented, and easy for the team to administer. The subscription payment portal works without manual reconciliation. Digital ad specs match what the Traffic Manager and Editorial need, every time, and Revenue management always knows what’s shipping next.
