This piece was awarded a 2024 Inside Publisher’s Award in the California State Fair Fine Arts Competition. Barbara Arnold is an acclaimed ophthalmologist, award-winning artist and art teacher. “My studio is on Scribner Road and Scribner Bend is my interpretation of the Sacramento River with the trees I see when looking into Yolo County. I feel such serenity in walking or driving along the River Road. Greg Kondos often told me to ‘put color where it is not always expected.’ He was a great friend and coach and encouraged me to paint my own way.” Shown: “Scribner Bend,” oil on canvas, 16 inches by 20 inches.
