Bill Chambers grew up in Sacramento and earned a BFA at California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland, where he studied graphic art.
“This painting is based on a small drawing of my front yard in Land Park. I was given a challenge to make a drawingusing only analogous colors. I chose blue, green and yellow, but I didn’t want to use blue for the sky. It was fun mixing all the values and variations.”
Laurie Curran studied art at UC Berkeley and San Francisco Art Institute. Her style is a masterful balance between abstraction and realism.
“In 2018, my youngest daughter Ajia was in a terrible car accident that led to two brain surgeries and, consequently, a shaved head. I wanted to take a traumatizing moment and turn it into a more positive perspective by having her pose with those flowers covering her shaved head. This picture represents a celebration of recovery and health instead of a dark memory.”
“This is an image I took outside with natural lighting using the multiple exposure feature in my Nikon Z7. Multiple exposure takes two images and combines them in the camera. I used an art lens with manual focus by Lensbaby.”
