Chris Volker is a local artist who has exhibited her work in group shows and galleries in California, Oregon, Washington and New Mexico. She has a BFA in painting from the University of Iowa. She is best known for her geometric expressionist paintings built up through layers of oil paint and cold wax. Similar to music, she hopes the viewer can respond to the play of line, planes, movement and color. Shown: “Green,” oil on canvas, 20 inches by 24 inches, in a private collection.
