Tapa The World

Traditional Spanish and Basque tapas, live music and inspired cocktails are a tradition at Tapa the World, founded in 1994 by siblings Conni Levis and Paul Ringstrom. Conni Levis is shown here with executive chef Marcos Murillo and bar manager Chris Callaway. This lively Sacramento restaurant offers a sophisticated assortment of small-plate dishes to be shared and savored. Tapa the World is popular for la comida (lunch) and la cena (dinner) and all the bebidas (drinks) and postres (desserts) in between.
A typical Tapa the World adventure begins with tortilla Española (the “Spanish poor man’s” potato cake cooked in olive oil with onion and egg), followed by jamon Serrano (dry cured and aged Spanish ham) and champiñones al ajillo (mushrooms sautéed in olive oil, garlic, parsley and white wine). From there, aceitunas (a selection of olives from Spain and around the world) serves as an interlude, with patatas bravas (fried potato cubes with spicy tomato sauce), calamares fritos (calamari dusted with Spanish pimentón and lightly fried with Romesco sauce), and berenjenas (eggplant, breaded and fried, topped with a cool tomato, garlic and herb compote and shredded Parmesan) to follow, all at a relaxing pace. The house-made sangria is direct from Iberia.
