De Vere’s Irish Pub
Featured: Inside Sacramento – Downtown
2019
A corner of Ireland’s capital has been transported 6,000 miles to create this lively downtown Sacramento restaurant and pub. The de Vere White family comes from a long line of pub owners who emigrated from Dublin to the U.S. After settling in Sacramento, the family decided to re-establish their hometown experience, including 20-ounce pints of beer and lovingly poured Guinness Stout. The family contracted with Irish craftsmen to design and build each of the pub’s fixtures and furnishings. The pieces were shipped from Ireland and reassembled in Sacramento. Personal touches, including photos, paintings and antiques from the de Vere White home in Ireland, were added to complete the masterpiece. European and American sports are always on the big screens. The food is classically Irish, including sliders, sandwiches, Granny’s shepherd’s pie, bangers and mash, and a fry-up made with bacon brined in-house. Over two dozen Irish whiskeys are featured, including at least six types of Jameson.
